The show mine in Leogang
In the show mine, "Schwarzleo", one of the oldest mines in Austria has been brought back to life again. Visitors get to immerse themselves in a long forgotten realm. In contrast to many other show mines, there is no little train to take guests for their tour in Leogang. Rather, you walk in single file through the caves into the inner areas of the mountain. The mine is located at around 1020 metres altitude and is a special experience for young and old alike. The show mine is open to visitors from the middle of December.

Copper mining museum in Mühlbach and its show caves
The copper mining museum in Mühlbach presents the history of mining in Austria, spanning 4000 years. Countless exhibits amaze visitors of all ages on a regular basis. The show caves just a few minutes’ walk from the museum are particularly exciting. Along with a guide, museum visitors head out on a journey through time spanning 4000 years, and at a total of 15 stations they find out lots of interesting information about mining, drilling, quarrying and blasting techniques. The adventures stations which include a hammer drill, blast simulation and children’s ‘knock’ station are particularly exciting for the museum’s younger visitors. In the winter months the museum is always open on Wednesdays.
